Hi all - I accidentally deleted all my video files on an SD card on my Canon DSLR. I immediately removed the card and haven't touched it since.
What's the best (safest) software to recover these files? I'm using OS X Yosemite.

Without knowing the developer, I would not download anything and install it.
And, FYI, you cannot edit your post (except for a 15 minute window right after posting).
That App is just Junk. Already in it's description is stated, that it doesn't work!!!

Sounds like someone violates the Apple Store Terms and Conditions here!
There is a good chance of recovery. Most SD cards will use DOS formatting. Files are deleted by marking the file as deleted and returning the file space to the delete pool. That mean the files are easily recovered if you stopped immediately writing to the card.
As a matter of fact, later releases of DOS had an undelete command.

The ones I've used were for PC's, and I found them by googling 'undelete software'
I know there was an article that came up that recommended several programs, and at least a couple of them had mac versions.
Just avoid sourceforge as a download site if you can. They've often got adware bundled with their downloads.
Thanks all - I'm just weary of downloading any third party software for fear of malware/phishing. I guess I'm looking for a "Mac approved" program.

maybe? I've never used it...but you may want to poke around in the utilities section of the mac app store and see if anything looks good
Even if you find data recovery software, there is no guarantee that your files can be recovered. I do not know if such software works on external SD cards, so before - edit that: I just checked this one and it claims that it does:

they have a free trial version and have been around for quite some time.
Great suggestions, but, hopefully, the OP found a solution two years ago. It's always good to check the thread's date. And, some of your links' URLs are not what they should be.
You should make a copy of the flash drive and work with the copy.
Use something like clonezilla to make the copy.
or the unix dd command.
